WATKINS GLEN, Sept 8, 2. Barb Warner Deane, a Watkins Glen native, will present an author talk and book signing at the Watkins Glen Public Library on Saturday, October 7 from 1. She will be signing both of her new releases: On The Homefront, a World War II- era historical novel, and Killing Her Softly, a contemporary romantic suspense novel. The talk is open to the public, does not require tickets, and is a drop- in event. At 1 p. m. that same day, Barb will present a historical program titled “Women of World War II: On the Front Lines & the Home Front” for the Schuyler County Historical Society at the Brick Tavern Museum, 1. N. Catherine St., Montour Falls. She will be signing both of her books at the close of the program. Again, this event is open to the public. Barb is a 1. 97. 9 graduate of Watkins Glen High School, a 1. Cornell University, and a 1. University of Connecticut, School of Law. She lives in Elmhurst, IL with her husband, Chris. With their three daughters, the couple lived in Frankfurt, Germany and, as empty- nesters, Barb and Chris lived in Shanghai, China. Barb is the daughter of the late Milford “Bud” Warner and the late Ruth Mehlenbacher Warner, both lifelong learners and teachers (and Bud the principal) at Watkins Glen High School. Barb is also the sister to Kate (Warner) La. Moreaux of Burdett, and Cynthia (Warner) Terry and Patty (Warner) Kehe, both of Watkins Glen. District Judge Frank P. Geraci. Jr. for their roles in a methamphetamine conspiracy, Acting U. S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. has announced.- -Scott Kennedy, 4. Beaver Dams, NY, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture, possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, 5. The defendant a faces a minimum penalty of 2. Jared Mendez, 3. 2, of Bradford, NY, pleaded guilty to theft of anhydrous ammonia with knowledge it will be used to manufacture methamphetamine. He faces eight years in prison and a $2. Terry Champion, 4. Bradford, NY, pleaded guilty to possession of a listed chemical with knowledge it will be used to manufacture a controlled substance. The defendant faces up to 1. Assistant U. S. Attorney Katelyn M. Hartford, who is handling the case, stated that between June 2. May 4, 2. 01. 6, Scott Kennedy conspired with others, including Jared Mendez and Terry Champion, to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine. Kennedy distributed large amounts of methamphetamine with and to people throughout the area of Schuyler, Chemung, and Steuben Counties in New York. During this time, Kennedy also received the assistance of numerous co- conspirators who provided him with supplies with the intent that he would use those supplies to manufacture methamphetamine, Hartford said. Between July 2. 01. October 2. 01. 5, Jared Mendez stole anhydrous ammonia and sold it to Kennedy. Between January 2. May 4, 2. 01. 6, Terry Champion obtained quantities of pseudoephedrine and sold it to Scott Kennedy. In addition, on January 2. Champion possessed approximately 1. On that date, the defendant was pulled over while driving on South Valley Road in Steuben County. During a search of the vehicle, officers located the pseudoephedrine pills. The pleas are the result of an investigation by the New York State Police, Special Investigations Unit, Rochester; the New York State Police, CNET Southern Tier, under the direction of Major Richard Allen; the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department, under the direction of William Yessman; and the Schuyler County District Attorney’s Office, under the direction of Joseph Fazzary. Scott Kennedy is scheduled to be sentenced on November 2. Terry Champion on November 3. Jared Mendez on December 1, 2. Judge Geraci. Odessa Fire Department, undertook a community service project for the Town of Catharine and the fire department Saturday, reconditioning the horseshoe pits at Catharine Park and creating four pits outside the fire department. They dug up and replaced a dozen pits near the playground at the park, across the road from the town offices, and created four pits outside the fire department, which is located on Main Street in Odessa. Catharine Park is located on Park Road, which is off of Grant Road."This was a great opportunity for the Troop to do something good for the community, and with any luck it will spark increased interest in locals for utilizing this underrated local park," said a troop spokesperson. Schuyler County Transit will offer a new Monday through Friday public transit service to Tompkins County. The service will help connect people in Schuyler County to Cayuga Medical Center and to TCAT routes that stop at Ithaca’s downtown transit hub and Cornell University. The new “Tompkins Connections” route will travel to Tompkins County and Cayuga Medical Center and provide an easy connection with TCAT Routes 2. TCAT Route 2. 0 runs from Enfield Park and Ride to the Downtown Ithaca hub with continuing services to Cornell University. TCAT Route 1. 4 travels from Cayuga Medical Center to West Hill and the Downtown Ithaca hub. Stops include 1. 2th & Porter Streets in Watkins Glen, Schuyler Hospital, Cayuga Medical Center, Walmart, Mecklenburg Park and Ride, and Enfield Park and Ride. One- way fare for the service is $2. TCAT offers free transfers to Schuyler County Transit riders transferring to TCAT Route 2. Route 1. 4. Riders will need to request a transfer slip from the Schuyler County Transit bus drivers. Changes to Schuyler County Transit service also effective August 2. Rock Cabin Mobile Home Park as a bus stop for its Village Connections service. Schedule times have been adjusted to accommodate the additional stop. Schuyler County Transit Dial- A- Ride has changed its days and times of service for the east side of Schuyler County to Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1. Wednesdays and Fridays, 1.
